Cook Team FAQ

1. Is there a quiet time?
A quiet time is in effect from 11:00pm of the night prior to judging until 6:00am the following morning. Failure to observe this quiet time may subject the offender(s) to removal from the contest site.

2. Does the Fire Marshall come out to inspect the fire extinguishers?
Yes, the Fire Marshall inspects all cook sites. Please make certain you have a 2A10BC fire extinguisher with a current state tag.

3. Are pets allowed? Well behaved pets are allowed on a leash, within your cook site. Please clean up after any pets.

SOW Barbecue Team Registration 2017

  • ONLY 10 VENDORS WILL BE ACCEPTED. ALL VENDORS MUST COMPETE IN ALL CATEGORIES OF THE BARBECUE COMPETITION! Barbecue vendors must be open on Friday, April 28 from 6-10pm and on Saturday April 29 from 11am-10pm. Vendors are not permitted to sell any beverages other than tea, lemonade or water. (If yes assess $200.00 fee).
  • Trailers and vehicles must fit inside the standard 20′ x 20′ cook space. Parking Pass must be displayed at all times. Upgrades to a 20′x40′ space are available for $75.00. Each space will be provided 1 - 20amp circuit. An additional 20amp circuit can be purchased for 75.00. If you need power beyond this please bring a generator.
  • You must compete in all four categories in order to be eligible for Grand Champion. Turn in times for Pro and Backyard as follows: CHICKEN – 11:00 AM RIBS - 12:00 PM PORK – 1:00 PM BRISKET – 2:00 PM
  • You must compete in all four categories in order to be eligible for Grand Champion. Desserts will be turned in on Friday, April 28th at 7pm. Competition Turn in times: CHICKEN – 11:00 AM RIBS - 12:00 PM PORK – 1:00 PM BRISKET – 2:00 PM **You will be billed for registration via Paypal at a later date. Please wait to be contacted by a staff member for your invoice.**
  • You may also compete in our ancillary contests to be eligible for additional prizes. The winner of our dessert contest will receive $100.00 and a trophy. Turn in time for the dessert competition is Friday, April 28 at 7:00pm. The winner of our People's Choice contest will receive $250.00 and a trophy. Turn in time for our People's Choice contest is Saturday, April 29 at 2:30pm.
  • Please upload a completed W-9 form for your team! If you do not submit one with your application, you must complete at the Cook Team Meeting on Friday, April 28th.
