Fort Myers Art Fest is almost here! This year at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center, Fort Myers Art Fest attendees can enjoy two art openings on Friday, February 1st, and an artist talk on Saturday, February 2nd! Check out all the exciting details about the upcoming exhibitions and talk with some of February’s exhibiting artists.
February Art Openings
SBDAC has two incredible group art shows opening on Friday, February 1st from 6pm – 10pm. In the first floor Grand Atrium, take in the inspiring exhibition “Them: An Anthology of Migration.” Immigrant artists Mila Bridger, Mariapia Malerba, Danielle Branchaud, Reynier Llanes, Juan Diaz, Cesar Aguilera, Aimee Perez, Ndola Penzy and Brian Weaver feature works that challenge stereotypes about immigrants.
Then, in the second floor Capital Gallery, experience the second annual “Carded: Miniature Masterpieces” group art show. Artists submitted tiny works based on the tradition of artist trading cards. These little gems are then hung for the duration of the show, and traded between the artists once the show has finished running. See these incredibly detailed and unique pieces before they are traded! Both exhibitions close February 21st.
Group Artist Talk
In addition to the February art openings, SBDAC will host an Art Talk with the artists participating in “Them: An Anthology of Migration.” This free event takes places on Saturday, February 2nd inside SBDAC from 3pm – 5pm. Take part in this lecture plus Q&A with artists Mila Bridger, Mariapia Malerba, Danielle Branchaud, Reynier Llanes, Juan Diaz, Cesar Aguilera, Aimee Perez, Ndola Penzy and Brian Weaver to get insight on their inspiration and process. The galleries will also be open for viewing in case anyone misses opening night!
