Saint-Saens Sonata in D Minor Op. 75

Two of the most sought-after recitalists on the international stage join forces, as Canadian violinist James Ehnes and American pianist Orion Weiss bring their talent to Fort Myers.

James Ehnes | Violin

James Ehnes has established himself as one of the most sought-after violinists on the international stage, gifted with a rare combination of stunning virtuosity, serene lyricism, and an unfaltering musicality. Ehnes’s long list of orchestral engagement include the Boston, Chicago, London, Vienna, Los Angeles, New York, Munich, Cleveland and Philadelphia Orchestras.

Alongside his concerto work, Mr. Ehnes maintains a busy recital schedule. He performs regularly at Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall, Symphony Center Chicago, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Ravinia, and the Verbier Festival.

Ehnes has an extensive discography and has won many awards for his recordings, including a Grammy Award for his live recording of Aaron Jay Kernis’ Violin Concerto with the Seattle Symphony. James Ehnes plays the “Marsick” Stradivarius of 1715.

Orion Weiss | Piano

One of the most desired young American musicians of his generation, the pianist, Orion Weiss, has performed with major orchestras including the Chicago and Boston Symphonies, and the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonics. His deeply felt and exceptionally crafted performances go far beyond his technical mastery and have won him worldwide acclaim.

As a recitalist and chamber musician, Mr. Weiss has appeared across the U. S. at venues and festivals including Lincoln Center, the Ravinia Festival, La Jolla Summerfest, the Kennedy Center, and the Bard Music Festival. Mr. Weiss performs regularly with James Ehnes at major concert halls throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.
