Dark Art 2026 – Open Call

Show Description

Dark Art 2026 invites artists to explore the mysterious, macabre, surreal, and alternative sides of creativity. This immersive exhibition at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center blends fine art, live performance, and interactive experiences into a hauntingly captivating showcase.

The opening night features live painting by participating artists and a dynamic environment that encourages visitors to experience art in new and unexpected ways. The exhibition culminates with the SWFL Halloween Art Gala, a ticketed celebration of creativity, community, and the darker sides of artistic expression.

We welcome submissions in all mediums, including but not limited to: painting, sculpture, mixed media, digital art, photography, installation, and performance art. Artists are encouraged to embrace experimentation, bold ideas, and immersive experiences.

Eligibility:

Open to local and regional artists.
All mediums and interpretations of “dark art” are welcome.
Art must be original and created by the submitting artist.
All submitted pieces must be for sale.

Submission Requirements:

Completed submission form (bottom of this page).
High-resolution images of artwork.
Title, dimensions, medium, and price.
Artist statement or description (optional but encouraged).

Installation & Display:

Selected works will be professionally installed by SBDAC staff.
Live art and interactive installations are welcome. Please include technical requirements in your submission.

Sales & Commissions:

Artwork may be for sale; SBDAC retains a standard commission on sales (to be specified in acceptance email).

I authorize the artwork described above to be shown at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center and for it and any accompanying Press materials to be utilized in promotion of the event and/or for marketing purposes. I agree with the Terms and Conditions of Website Use Agreement. I, the undersigned, hold the exhibition rights to the submission and am duly authorized to submit this artwork for consideration to be exhibited to the public. SBDAC will pay ARTIST for any works sold during the exhibit no later than 2 weeks after the close of the exhibition. The breakdown of funds is as follows: ARTIST will receive 60% of the sales price for any original work sold and SBDAC receives a commission of 40% of the sales price from all sales during the course of the exhibition. I agree with the authorization terms above.
