This October the infamous Dark Art exhibition is back! A juried selection of the raw, visceral, beautifully dark works created by artists from Southwest Florida will feature painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media projects all dedicated to the celebration of darker themes in art. Dark Art is bound to be weird and wonderful, with plenty of surprises in store. This array of the ghoulish and macabre will be on display in the Grand Atrium gallery through October 14th. The opening reception will take place the first Friday of the month during Art Walk, and will feature local live entertainment. Costumes strongly encouraged. Costumes may not include weapons that resemble or could easily be mistaken for real weapons.

Submission guidelines for Dark Art 2022

Please read them carefully before submitting artwork!

The deadline is Friday, September 23rd, so you have plenty of time to show your dark sides!

To submit artwork for consideration, please follow these guidelines:

*Artists may submit up to FOUR pieces for consideration. (There is no submission fee)

*All media is accepted, including sculpture. There are no size restrictions, so long as the piece will fit through standard doorways and is ready to display. (3-dimensional pieces must be display-ready, either free-standing or wall-hanging)

*Please upload quality images (no more than 2Mb in size, jpeg) labeled appropriately for identification purposes (ex: lastname_title.jpg)

IF YOU ARE MISSING CRITERIA YOUR SUBMISSION MAY NOT BE ACCEPTED.

*Artists not from the SWFL area are responsible for any and all shipping costs for the delivery of accepted artwork and the return of unsold work.

*Pending acceptance, artwork must be ready to display. 2D work must be ready to hang with hanging wire or appropriate hardware, and the sculpture must be free-standing. Pedestals can be provided for small-scale 3D works. Any works not display-ready upon the drop-off date are subject to rejection!

*Artwork must have been produced within the past 12 months. Art previously exhibited at Dark Art shows will not be accepted.

**Most importantly, artwork must adhere to the theme of ‘dark art’. This includes, but isn’t limited to: monsters, magic, witches, zombies, creatures, nightmares, surreal hell-scapes, skulls, spirits, ghouls, demons, devils, ghosts, etc. The purpose of this show is to encourage artists to explore these themes and the darker spectrum of thought and imagination.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, September 23rd

We look forward to seeing what you produce, dark artists!
