As a teacher of viola at Curtis and former principal viola of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Mr. Díaz has already had a significant impact on American musical life and continues to do so in his dual roles as performer and educator.

Steve was born and raised in Georgia, graduating from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. He was a trial lawyer for 30 years and held elective office for 14 of those years. Sierra has played the White House, Carnegie Hall (twice), the Kennedy Center, traveled around the world sharing her music, and released three albums.  Then there’s the fact that Berklee gave her the school’s most prestigious award, the Presidential Scholarship, a first for a bluegrass musician; her choice to accept it, to delay her dream of hitting the road full-time after high school in favor of expanding her musical worldview, was hardly a light one.

Trombone player Wycliffe Gordon is best known for his work with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of jazz maestro, Wynton Marsalis. The versatile trombonist can scat, multi-note, slide, and plunge, just like he stepped out of the 1930s. Gordon has played with many jazz luminaries, including Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Henderson, Branford Marsalis, Lionel Hampton, Tommy Flanagan, and Shirley Horn.

One of the most effective and widely used educational tools for artists is practicing still life, which is defined as creating art depicting a subject that is inanimate or dead. Most artists are exposed to this practice frequently in order to help hone their skills, while others consider it their preferred subject matter. In either case, exploring the art of still life is essential in an artist’s development of skill and style.

Do you remember doodling when you were a kid? Remember your art on the refrigerator’ door? Remember how proud you felt?
Or if you have kids now, how proud you feel about your child’s creation?
This exhibit wants to showcase those masterpieces by these young artists and to remind the rest of us how free we felt those days, how we created without thinking it was art, to remind us to never grow up.
This exhibition is open to elementary school age, and younger humans.

Sierra has played the White House, Carnegie Hall (twice), the Kennedy Center, traveled around the world sharing her music, and released three albums.  Then there’s the fact that Berklee gave her the school’s most prestigious award, the Presidential Scholarship, a first for a bluegrass musician; her choice to accept it, to delay her dream of hitting the road full-time after high school in favor of expanding her musical worldview, was hardly a light one.

Trombone player Wycliffe Gordon is best known for his work with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of jazz maestro, Wynton Marsalis. The versatile trombonist can scat, multi-note, slide, and plunge, just like he stepped out of the 1930s. Gordon has played with many jazz luminaries, including Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Henderson, Branford Marsalis, Lionel Hampton, Tommy Flanagan, and Shirley Horn.

One of the most effective and widely used educational tools for artists is practicing still life, which is defined as creating art depicting a subject that is inanimate or dead. Most artists are exposed to this practice frequently in order to help hone their skills, while others consider it their preferred subject matter. In either case, exploring the art of still life is essential in an artist’s development of skill and style.

Artist: Open call childrens art show

Do you remember doodling when you were a kid? Remember your art on the refrigerator’ door? Remember how proud you felt?
Or if you have kids now, how proud you feel about your child’s creation?
This exhibit wants to showcase those masterpieces by these young artists and to remind the rest of us how free we felt those days, how we created without thinking it was art, to remind us to never grow up.
This exhibition is open to elementary school age, and younger humans.
