Shodo is a Japanese word used for the art of calligraphy. A work of shodo is considered a work of art, like for example a painting. I am fascinated and inspired by shodo and the zen philosophy behind it.

Weaving Workshop: The Amulet Bag

Wednesday, February 19th, 10am - 3pm
Learn to weave an Amulet on a simple tapestry loom. Select a sacred charm or stone to place in the amulet and choose to give as a gift or keep for remembering a special intention.

Internationally recognized as one of the world's finest quartets, the American String Quartet has spent decades honing the luxurious sound for which it is famous.

Weaving Workshop: Triaxial Weaving

Wednesday, February 26th 10am - 3pm
Create artwork with hand-painted and jacquard woven ribbons. Paint satin ribbons with acrylics then weave Vertical, Horizontal and 45 degree angles of ribbons on canvas or foamcore board.

The members of Fire & Rain - The James Taylor Experience have been touring the country in various groups for the better part of the last 3 decades, and have now come together to pay tribute to this great music and the greatest singer/songwriter/guitarist the world has ever produced.

Visual artists, filmmakers, theatre artists, dancers, musicians, and poets race against a 24-hour clock to create unique works based on prompts given by Artistic Director of Ghostbird Theatre, Barry Cavin.

The Gala for the Arts

As southwest Florida develops, a refined venue for the arts like Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center is increasingly important to the region. The Gala will help bring the entire community Closer to the Arts. Proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly toward programming for the arts education, art shows, concerts, and special events, plus Rooftop Sculpture Garden development and maintenance.
