$300 semester
Whether you’re picking up a brush for the first time or looking to build confidence with watercolor, this 10-week course will guide you through the fundamentals of the medium in a fun, approachable environment.
Students will begin with the basics, including proper tool selection and preparing to paint, before exploring a variety of techniques and working toward a finished project.
Techniques covered include:
- Values and layering
- Skin tones and hair, with an introduction to portraiture
- Working patiently and in sections to properly detail a painting
- Mixed media elements
- Organic techniques using wood, rocks, water, and other natural elements
- Creating strong compositions
- Proper finishing and framing
This course is designed to give students the inspiration and confidence to continue working with watercolor long after the 10 weeks are complete.
All supplies will be provided, and participants are encouraged to practice at home with take-home materials.
About Dharma
Dharma LeFevre is a local artist and educator who has been part of SBDAC’s arts education programming for the past five years. Her work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions as well as international projects. An upbeat and encouraging instructor, Dharma loves introducing students to new mediums, building creative confidence, and inspiring people to create art.
