Overview
Co-curated by the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center and Florida Gulf Coast University, In Bloom presents a selection of emerging artists whose work has distinguished itself through originality, technical rigor, and a compelling sense of individual vision. Drawn from Florida Gulf Coast University’s vibrant community of young artists, the exhibition brings together Diana Talavera, Claire Turner, Eva Petrovski, Anthony Alexander, Katie Havener, Maynard Luterman, Nicole Gonzalez Mata, Jackie Brown, and Kelsey Flores, each contributing a distinct perspective shaped by experimentation, curiosity, and an evolving artistic practice.
Rather than viewing these artists solely at the beginning of their careers, In Bloom recognizes a pivotal moment of transformation, when ideas begin to crystallize into confident visual languages and emerging practices reveal their lasting potential. The exhibition reflects a period of creative growth in which exploration and ambition intersect, offering insight into the diverse directions contemporary art is taking through a new generation of makers.
Collectively, the works presented invite viewers to engage with fresh perspectives, material innovation, and deeply personal narratives. In Bloom celebrates not only artistic promise, but the vitality of a creative community whose voices are already contributing to the evolving cultural landscape of Southwest Florida and beyond.
