Tuesdays – 5p-7p

6 weeks/session

(2 sessions per semester, with different age groups)

August 25- Sept 29 -ages 13+ (teens)

October 6- November 10 -ages 18+ (adults)

$300 semester

This brand-new 8-week course is all about portraiture! Students will learn how to begin and complete a variety of portraits while exploring the foundational techniques needed to create realistic, expressive faces.

Students will explore:

• How to draw a well-proportioned face using simple measurements
• Front and side profiles
• Cultural, age, and gender studies
• Techniques for individual facial features
• Shading techniques to create depth and realism
• Hair and facial hair
• Painting a completed portrait
• Self-portraits for additional practice

All supplies will be provided, and participants are encouraged to take home supplies for additional practice between classes.

About Dharma

Dharma LeFevre is a local artist and educator who has been part of SBDAC’s arts education programming for the past five years. Her work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions as well as international projects. An upbeat and encouraging instructor, Dharma loves introducing students to new mediums, building creative confidence, and inspiring people to create art.
