Overview

The Devouring Self examines the relationship between human desire and ecological decline. Through a series of photographs, the exhibition explores how consumption extends beyond material resources into the psychological landscape of identity, status, and belonging. The work asks whether humanity’s greatest act of extraction is not from the Earth itself, but from an endless internal hunger that can never be fully satisfied. As the boundaries between self-preservation and self-destruction blur, viewers are invited to consider what drives us to consume—and what remains when there is nothing left to take.

Anastasia is a photographer whose work is deeply rooted in themes of beauty, resilience, family, and personal transformation. Through her lens, she seeks to create images that empower and uplift, with a particular focus on helping women recognize and celebrate their own inner strength and beauty. Her portraits explore the tension between vulnerability and confidence, inviting viewers to reflect on the ways we perceive ourselves and others.

Family serves as both the foundation of Anastasia’s life and a recurring source of inspiration in her artistic practice. Many of her most meaningful works feature her loved ones, including her son and late mother, whose presence continues to shape her creative vision. Blending traditional portraiture with more conceptual and unconventional imagery, Anastasia creates photographs that are both intimate and emotionally resonant.

The artist’s professional journey was profoundly influenced by her mother’s long battle with cancer. A devoted supporter who helped build Anastasia’s studio, her mother embodied the grace, strength, and beauty that continue to inspire the artist’s work. Following her mother’s passing, Anastasia experienced a transformative period that led her to fully embrace photography as both a vocation and a means of honoring memory.

Today, Anastasia’s work stands as a tribute to the enduring bonds of family, the power of love, and the beauty that emerges through life’s most challenging moments. Every image she creates is infused with these values, preserving stories of connection, remembrance, and hope.
