Years ago, I proudly graduated from Newcomb College at Tulane University in NOLA with a BFA in Studio Arts. Life took me on a different path, but in recent years, I’ve come back to painting with a fiery passion.
Gone are the days of trying to please others with my art. I now paint what I want, and I don’t give a damn about what anyone else thinks. (Although I must admit, I do have a soft spot for painting portraits of our four-legged friends, especially those who have crossed the rainbow bridge.) This newfound freedom has made me a better painter, and my walls are now adorned with my colorful creations, turning my home into a Salon de Paris.
But I’m not stopping there. I want to push myself to see how far I can go, to see what I can create until I can’t anymore. Lately, I’ve been captivated by contrast and color, seeking out images that showcase light against dark, reflections, and bright, vivid hues. And when I can, I add a touch of whimsy to my work.
I know that the average art-goer spends mere seconds looking at a piece before moving on to the next. But I want to capture your gaze, to make you wonder, to elicit a connection with a memory, or maybe even spark an emotion or a conversation. It’s a tall order for a thin layer of paint on a canvas or paper, but I’m up for the challenge.
So come along with me on this journey. Let’s see where my passion for painting takes me, and maybe, just maybe, I’ll inspire you to pick up a brush and create something beautiful too.
