The era we currently inhabit, known as the Anthropocene, is characterized by the profound alterations made by humanity to every facet of life on our planet. One significant consequence of these changes is the rampant proliferation of pollution.

Pollution, in essence, refers to the act of contaminating or degrading the environment, rendering it unsuitable or hazardous for use due to the introduction of man-made waste. While pollutants can occur naturally, such as volcanic ash, they are often the byproduct of human activities, such as the disposal of trash or the runoff generated by industrial factories. These pollutants inflict damage upon the quality of our air, water, and land.

In addition to environmental pollution, we are also faced with the side effects of technological advancements affecting our natural state of being. The omnipresence of social media and the dependency on electronics are perhaps developing new forms of mental and spiritual pollution in our society.

How can we confront and combat these forms of pollution we face on a daily basis? What solutions can we envision to not only reduce but eradicate both environmental and mental/spiritual pollution?

The challenge posed by this year’s juried exhibition lies in your ability to propose solutions to the multifaceted issue of pollution, encompassing environmental, spiritual, and mental realms. It beckons you to delve into the depths of your imagination and present innovative approaches to combatting these topics of discussion.  Artists are encouraged to use recycled materials in their art pieces.
